Enlightenment

I’ve started on a path

A path of knowledge and enlightenment

Having no idea where it will lead

Only knowing that it will never end

But only open doors with more to open

One never reaches a plateau

Where everything is easy

And one has all the answers

And everything goes smoothly

The only goal is more knowledge, more awareness

More consciousness, more Living

The path of knowledge and enlightenment

Is a door that opens on more doors to be opened

There is no knowing where it will lead Only that it will never end

The Girl Who Was Born With Eyes Wide Open

The girl who was born with eyes wide open

Looking at the infinity of the universe from within the womb

Eager to see the light of the world

Eyes so huge, bright and deep blue

With a passion to live life apparent

A wonder to all who were witness to the scene

Of the girl who was born with her eyes wide open

New Poem: The Ugly Bird

Old Man Downsized

Male, white supremacy is an ugly bird
It rears its head at childbirth as this truth comes to be heard
Doted on, spoiled and privileged so how would a small child
know?
In ignorance carefully taught with words and imitation
That men are superior to women in every situation
Girls are emotional, Feminine is silly and frivolous
Men only are obviously fit to rule, stoic and without emotion

Those who complain of discrimination and harassment are
obviously losers
This world is a tough place, there’s no room for the weak and
complainers
As they’ve been taught with their high school jock mentality
Say you’ve had a hard life, they’ll say, “I think everyone has”
Point out to them they have advantages and privileges
They’ll say, “What does it matter?”
It only means that people have to try harder                                                    If it’s that bad just find another job, that’s always the solution

Secure in their minds that old, white men in dark suits, the only
ones fit to lead are taking care of everything
If they’re put in a situation where they are treated equal
They cry reverse discrimination to tilt everything back in their
favor

With no ambition, confidently waiting for their parents to die
So that with an inheritance they will be richly rewarded
Their friends convince them the key to happiness is avoiding
responsibility
Convinced of their superiority and that all they have
is through their own hard work and ingenuity
Don’t mention to them the hard work of their wives
or their faces will grow red with anger
Getting in good with the bosses is the key to an easy life
When confronted with tough issues
They switch to talking about sports, something important
When workers stick up for their rights
They know whose side they’re on
And make it a race issue with divide and conquer tactics

Insecure about their own social position, unhappy with their
lives
Lashing out with jealousy, any reason to hate to justify what is
done
If their self esteem is hurt, simply drop more bombs
So they can watch it on their televisions
And cheer with glee and they can gloat

This ugly bird consumes the nest, worries the mother
And feeds upon the young
War is peace, Love is hate and Ignorance is bliss
Just as the book of prophecy says

New Poem: Diana, The Huntress

Diana Downsize 2

Diana, the Huntress, walks in the ancient forest, stalking
And where she walks is silence
Poised and stealthy, silent as the ancient forest, itself
Disturbing not the dried leaves or breaking even a single twig
Ever vigilant, aware
Senses heightened
The silence of Her stealth
And the silence of the ancient forest are as one and the same
In the time of Her stalking
For Diana, the Huntress is hunting
And there is no prey
For Diana is a Goddess
Everywhere She hardly touches
The air barely feels Her breathing
As she moves through ancient ferns
Beneath ancient trees, along paths long forgotten
The mightiest of the forest revere Her and are humble
As She reaches for Her arrow and pulls it from Her quiver
In one graceful movement She fits the arrow to the bow
She draws back on the arrow
Bowstring taut as tawny muscle and sinew
She pauses, intent
The universe stands still and breathless
Even as She checks Her breathing to be sure Her aim will not
go astray
As it cannot for She is a Goddess
She looks straight down the shaft
Gently the bowstring slips from Her fingers
Skillfully as She has done since before the beginning of time
She lets the arrow fly
This arrow will never falter or go astray
Will never lose speed or fall to the earth
But this arrow will never find its mark
It is its destiny to keep circling the world
Forever restlessly searching, searching forever

Inspirational Protest Poem: Untitled

Author Photo Downsized

High above the air force fighter planes scratch the sky
Leaving their long, white trails that hover in the air for hours
Then come the sonic booms and the air raid sirens being tested at noon
This is the world our elders have given us
A world of war
Down here on the ground, on Earth a child reads
About gangs, ghettos and poverty
About prejudice and discrimination and people fighting for their rights
About freedom riders, protest marches and riots
And he says to himself, “Someday we’ll change the world”

New Poem: Rare Love

Rare Love Downsized

Artist: Mark Alberto Yoder Nunez

Rare Love by Mark Alberto Yoder Nuñez

She looks into his liquid eyes
And feels the flow of mysteries
His hands so gentle on her body
She feels her soul and body melting
Her thoughts melt and all she knows
Is hot breathing and two hearts beating
There is the warmth and heat where their bodies are touching
All outside is cold and fleeting
From schoolboy’s crush to wild imagination
Romantic novels and burning fascinations
Never giving up despite the years
Holding on despite the fears
Dreams melt into waking life
As the schoolgirl becomes a wife
Many have lived and died in vain
For a love that is so elusive
They couldn’t know the fire in the rain
They thought it all was so exclusive
Holding out as no one else would dare
For a love that is so rare
Experiencing rare love such as this
In a moment is eternal bliss
It takes a lifetime of learning
Boys and girls learning from each other
Developing skill
Learning to trust each other beyond their will
Learning to care
A love so rare

The Dreamers: New Poem

The Spider Lady Cover

We were sad, restless dreamers in a restless age
In innocence and wonder we gazed at the beauty of the world
While all the world around us rushed blindly on
in waste and self destructiveness
We took the time to watch the sun go down
Now all these years have come and gone
And I sit here alone on a magic night
The wind is warm and dry
The dusk is purple
And the innermost longings of my soul
Wash over me slowly in a gentle wave
Warming me and soothing me and reminding me
of the child who dreamed of love
The child who is the real me
Who always was
Yes, we are just friends
But the machinations of the greedy world tore us apart!
Expectations, lust and fame
But all those things were for nothing
Just beautiful sunsets that were missed
As we hurried and fretted our young lives away
“All I want is a place in the sun!” I cried!
And the world mockingly laughed like a sorry, old crone in
reply
We were sad, restless dreamers in a restless age
In innocence and wonder we gazed at the beauty of the world

The Lonely Bird: A poem by Mark Alberto Yoder Nuñez

The Spider Lady Cover

The night is perilous, dark and cold
The lonely bird sits perched on his roost up above in the
highest branches of the Tree
Keeping still, trying to stay warm
Eyes sometimes closed, sometimes opened very narrowly
Alert, wary of the slithering or gentle padding
The rustling that is not the gentle, night breeze
The anxious breath held in check of creeping, predatory night
creatures
The feline stealth, the restless serpent tongue
The night so dark and ominous as it were Eternal and never
again the glad sight of familiar Day to be seen
The chill, morning dew oppressing the Spirit
But at last the slowly growing light of the Dawn
The bird feels rested, the Spirit renewed, as the fingers of
darkness and chill retreat Optimism returns
He shakes the dew from body and wings, his heart soars with
gladness at the prospect of a New Day
Then what notion is this? He’s already begun to sing
A joyful but lonely song peculiar only to him
The same song but the song is never exactly the same
And he can’t help but praise himself for the unique beauty of
his own song
Soon he hears another song and another and another
Soon he is but one voice among choruses of songs
Different melodies but with brilliant counterpoint
As the Morning grows brighter and warmer
The humming and buzzing of insects joins the orchestra
But the clever bird is the master musician, varying his song to
each nuance of the symphony
He freely improvises across his vast accompaniment
Sometimes in the foreground, sometimes diminishing
Allowing a dramatic pause then rejoicing with renewed
exuberance and vigor
His joyful but lonely song is true, an Inspiration
Then the Music has built to its crescendo, spiritual fulfillment
achieved
The Song begins to rest
Some birds still chirp, crows caw, another Day
The lonely bird takes to the Freedom of Flight
He does not know what the New Day will bring
But he knows before the Day is ended he must fly high

Untitled Poem

Shade Downsized copy 300

I walk along the street in the shade of the trees
Bits of light and shadow dance on walls and sidewalk
I should cross over to the sunny side of the street
But I feel like tarrying longer in the cool of the shadows
On the other side of the street is Life
When I cross over
Soon I will be warm and sweaty but feeling so alive
So I tarry awhile longer among the shadows
Where everything seems so lucid
